GENERATION 1
John Clough was born in 1613 in England. He came to America on the ship Elizabeth in the summer of 1635. His ship landed in Charlestown, Massachusetts. John was married to Jane. They lived in Salisbury Massachusetts. Jane died on Jan. 11, 1679. John married Martha Blaisdell Cilley, the daughter of Ralph Blaisdell on March 16, 1691. Johns will was probated on Nov. 3, 1691. The children of John and Jane were: Elizabeth was born Dec. 6, 1642 Mary was born July 30, 1644. Died young. Sarah was born June 28, 1646 John was born March 6, 1648 or 1649 Thomas was born May 29, 1651 Martha was born March 22, 1654 Samuel was born Feb. 20, 1657 GENERATION 2 John was born in Salisbury Mass. on March 6, 1848 or 1849. John married Mercy Page on Nov. 13, 1674. She was born on April 1, 1655 at Haverhill, Mass. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Marsh) Page who were pioneers of Hingham and Haverhill, Mass. Mercy died Jan. 25, 1718 or 1719. She is buried in the Salisbury Plains Cemetery. John died April 19, 1718 and he is buried in the same cenetery. Children of John and Mercy were: Benoni was born May 23, 1675 Mary was born April 8, 1677 John was born June 30, 1678 Cornelius was born May 7, 1680 Caleb was born Oct. 26, 1682 Joseph was born Oct. 14, 1684 Sarah was born April 5, 1686 Jonathan was born on April 11, 1688 Mercy was born on March 17, 1690 Moses was born on March 26, 1693 Aaron was born on Dec. 16, 1695 Tabitha was born on Feb. 12, 1698 GENERATION 2A Thomas was born in Salisbury Mass. on May 29, 1651. He married Hannah Gile on March 10, 1680. She was born on Feb. 12 or 25, 1655 in Haverhill Mass. She was the daughter of samuel and Judith (Davis) Gile. They had 2 children. Hannah died Jan. 22, 1684. Children of Thomas and Hannah were: Samuel was born Dec. 5, 1680 Thomas was born Dec. 9, 1681 Thomas then married Ruth Connor. She was born on May 16, 1670 in Salisbury, Mass. Ruth was the daughter of Cornelius and Sarah Connor. Ruth died on Aug. 5, 1727 and Thomas died before 1749. Children of Thomas and Ruth (Connor) Clough were: Jeremiah was born June 21, 1688 and died Dec. 6, 1709 Ebenezer was born July 5, 1690 and died soon after birth. He was the first grandchild to be born of John and Jane Clough. Benoni married Hannah (probably Merrill ) before Sept. 25, 1694. She was born on July 12, 1672 in Kensington, N. H. (probably - She was the daughter of Nathaniel and Joanna (Ninian) Merrell. Nathaniel was born before May 25, 1634 in Lawford, Essex, England and he died Jan. 1, 1682 or 83 in Newbury, Essex, Mass. He married Joanna Ninian Oct. 15, 1661 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass.) Benoni and Hannah moved to Kingston N. H. Hannah died on Feb. 24, 1742 and Benoni died on Feb. 22, 1757. Ichabod was born on June 29, 1697 at Salisbury Mass. They lived in Kingston, N. H. His will was probated on Jan. 29, 1746. Children of Ichabod and Rebekah Clough: Elijah was born June 5, 1724 Zacheus was born in 1725 Ezekiel was born Aug. 15, 1726 and died in 1743 Elisha was bap on Nov. 5, 1727 Daniel was bap. on May 10, 1730 Jonathan was born on Nov. 8, 1731 Ruth was born in 1733 and died in 1745 Hannah was bap. on Nov. 16, 1735 and died in 1744 Martha was bap. on Aug. 13, 1738 and died in 1762 GENERATION 5 Zacheus Clough was born about 1725 in Kingston N. H. He was bap. on Jan. 23, 1728. Zacheus was a blacksmith by trade and resided in Lee, N. H. He married Love Meader about 1752. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Meader. She was born about 1734. Zacheus was a soldier in the French and Indian war in 1766. He was in Capt. Archelaus Woodman's Company, Major General John Sullivan's Division of Durham in the Provincial Militia. Zacheus died about 1810. Children of Zacheus and Love (Meader) Clough: Nathaniel was born about 1753 John was born in 1756 David was born in 1758 Benjamin was born in 1760 Susanna was born about 1765 William was born on Dec. 5, 1768 Abigail was born about 1770 and died Jan. 17, 1815, unmarried. GENERATION 6 David Clough was born in 1758 in Lee, N. H. He was in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted at Gilmanton, N. H., in Capt. Joseph Badger's Co. He was at Lake Champlain and Mt. Independence in 1776. On July 15, 1777, he married Margaret Page of Epping, N. H. They lived in Sandwich N. H., where all of their children were born. Children of David and Margaret (Page) Clough were: Lydia was born on Nov. 27, 1778 Sarah was born on March 19, 1780 Peter was born on April 23, 1782 Thomas was born on April 27, 1786 Lydia was born on April 11, 1788 David was born in 1790 John was born on Feb. 14, 1792 Asabel was born in 1794 GENERATION 7 Peter Clough was born on April 23, 1782 in Sandwich N. H. On Sept. 10, 1808 Peter married Polly Tower in Westminster, Vt. Their children were: Fanny Maria was born June 19, 1809 Nancy Adeline was born on May 8, 1811 William was born on Feb. 11, 1813 Charles was born on Dec. 26, 1814 John was born on June 17, 1817 Henry was born on May 8, 1819 David was born on April 10, 1821 Polly died five days after David was born. Peter then married Hannah Perham on August 12, 1821. Peter died on Feb. 21, 1845. Y. Harvey Victor was born on May 20, 1830 in Peru, N. Y. George was born on April 1, 1835 in Peru, N. Y. Mary Minerva was born on Aug. 19, 1839 GENERATION 8 Below is a photo of Harvey Victor Clough. The photo was taken in New York. He seems quite young in this photo. It was taken before 1856. The following is a bio from "History of Henry County, Illinois, 1885" "Harvey V. Clough, dairyman and general farmer on section 19, Geneseo Township, is one of the representative farmers of Henry County in point of industry, thrift and persistency in the way of adding to the development of the agricultural resources of the county. He was born in Bangor, Franklin Co., N. Y. March 20, 1830. His parents, Peter and Hannah (Perham) Clough, were both born in the State of New York, and were of German and English birth respectively. They went, in the childhood of their son, to Jamaiea, Vt. There Mr. Clough grew to the age of manhood, and was instructed in the business of a farmer. He was also employed at various times in a saw-mill. He continued to live in the county of Windham until 1856, when he came to the county where he is now a resident. He at once bought a tract of land at Hickory Grove, in the township of Edford, and proceeded to the business of farmer in a prairie State. He erected a frame house, 14 x 18 feet in dimensions and one and a half stories in height. He cleared about 60 acres of his farm, which was situlated in the grove, and after a residence thereon of about nine years, he then sold out and bought the place where he has since carried on his business operations. The place contains 240 acres and is all improved. In 1879 he established his business as a dairyman and has a milk route in the city of Geneseo. His cows number 60 on an average. Mr. Clough was married in Windham Co., Vt., to Sophia Hines. Their marriage was celebrated Jan. 26, 1855. They have had eight sons, five of whom are living. Mrs. Clough was born in Windham Co., Vt., July 20, 1839. Her parents were William and Ann (Maynard) Hins. Mr. Hins was born April 1, 1812; and Mrs. H., May 23, 1816, and died May 5, 1864. They were divorced two times and just before Harvey died he remarried a young girl. That story is in the Of Interest Section. The following children were born to Harvey and Sophia (Hines) Clough: Victor William was born on Jan. 20, 1856 (a Bio of this Clough is found in the Of Interest Section) Henry C. was born on May 23, 1858 in Geneseo. Frank Harvey was born Aug. 19, 1861 Charlie L was born on Aug. 31, 1863 and died on Oct. 9, 1870 Harry L was born on July 19, 1866 and died on April 12, 1870 Ernest was born on Feb. 2, 1871 and died on Aug. 27, 1871 Llewellyn A. was born on Feb. 22, 1874 and died on June 3, 1886 Clyde Morton was born on June 29, 1879 or 1880 in Geneseo. GENERATION 9 Left is a picture of Clyde Morton Clough. Right is a picture of Charlotte (Pickens) Clough Clyde Morton was born on June 29, 1879 or 1880 in Geneseo, Illinois. He married Charlotte Mae Pickens (see Pickens) on June 20, 1901 in Scott County, Iowa. He died Nov. 2, 1914 in Davenport. Children of Clyde and Lottie are: Harold Harvey was born Nov. 24, 1901. He never married and died Feb. 22, 1974. Myrelle was born Feb. 22, 1906 in Davenport, Iowa. He died Jan. 2, 1922 Clyde was born in 1908 William Fredrick was born Sept. 12, 1910, in Davenport, Iowa Lawrence Victor was born Oct. 8, 1912 in Davenport The picture is of the Clough brothers. Their father died when Larry the youngest was only 2 years old. Lottie raised the boys and never remarried. From Left to right: Clyde - my father, William - Larry and Harold. All the brothers flew airplanes and rode motorcycles. Uncle Harold never married was a wonderful Uncle and would take us kids up for airplane rides. Once the boys started to build an airplane in the basement but couldn't get it out. GENERATION 10 William F. Clough was born on Sept. 12, 1910 (see "Of Interest" section). He married Grace Pauline Simpson (see Simpson) on Aug. 27, 1929 in Washington, Iowa. Bill was killed in 1950. Clyde Morton was born on June 29, 1879 or 1880 in Geneseo, Illinois. He married Charlotte Mae Pickens (see Pickens) on June 20, 1901 in Scott County, Iowa. He died Nov. 2, 1914 in Davenport. Children of Clyde and Lottie are:
Harold Harvey was born Nov. 24, 1901. He never married and died Feb. 22, 1974.
